Centenary is very active in ministries that reach out to our community, country and world, to fulfill our vision -- To be changed by Christ and to love and serve in the streets of Shelbyville and the world.

Our SEND Team is seeking to also use Acts 1:8 ("But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth") as a lens for evaluating our Outreach ministries. Our goal is to have a balance of ministries locally (Jerusalem), beyond local but still nearby (Judea), places we might tend to avoid (Samaria), and the rest of the world (ends of the earth).

We already actively support a variety of hands-on ministries including:

  • Arriba Ninos, which provides tutoring to students whose native language is not English
  • Red Bird Mission, which serves low-income residents of Kentucky's Appalacian mountains
  • God's Kitchen, which provides a hot lunch Monday - Friday in downtown Shelbyville
  • Mercy Medical Clinic
  • Kentucky United Methodist Homes, a facility for teenagers that have faced traumatic issues
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • In addition, Centenary is also an emergency site backup for the Red Cross during natural disasters and inclement weather.
  • If you want to make a difference in someone's life, let us know and we will connect you to one or more of these ministries.

We are also reaching out beyond our walls through our Mission Covenant giving as Kentucky United Methodists. For information regarding the various ministries supported through this giving click on the following link:
